Ex- Luwero Minister Sarah Kataike claims she was rigged, vows to go independent

Sarah Kataike

Former State Minister for Luwero Triangle Sarah Ndoboli Kataike has announced that she will bounce back to the Woman Member of Parliament race on an independent ticket if NRM CEC fails to amicably settle her grievances.

Kataike,59, who served as state minister for health and general duties and Woman Member of Parliament in the 9th Parliament, has tendered her petition for redress.

In her petition Kataike decried that there was gross falsification, altering of results in favor of some candidates.

“The registers used were fake and doctored. Children and none party members also voted, how can I lose from iki iki county which is my stronghold?” she wondered.

The former minister accused the security personnel of beating up her agents and particularly the DPC Budaka Nabunya Swagiya for being biased to other candidates.

She reiterated that she will never give up in life as long as she’s still breathing.

During the hotly contested race on 4th Sep 2020, the incumbent Woman Member of Parliament Pamela Kamugo took the flag after securing 24,792 votes against 18,207 for Kataike.

Others in the race include Baluka Noel Babula 12,502, Baluka Hilda got 11,624 and Hellen Sitima the former Nansanga sub-county councilor garnered 5757.

Meanwhile, some voters say the former minister’s failure was inevitable following her past utterances where she allegedly called her voters “Nsega” and her failure to redeem Bugwere region from acute poverty the time she served in different leadership positions.
