NUP warns members against abusing those who disagree with Bobi Wine

The National Unity Platform [NUP] has warned it's members against abusing people who don't agree with the party ideology and their leader Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Recently ,singer Edirisa Musuuza aka Eddy Kenzo, urged Kyagulanyi to tame his supporters who keep abusing anyone who doesn’t agree with him.

Equally, Bobi Wine has been blamed for failure to control his supporters especially those who use the social media to hurl insults at those who disagree with some party positions.

Addressing the media in Kampala, the NuP spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi said the party doesn't condone any form of indiscipline.

"We call upon our supporters...let's have discipline as our team leader has told us several times. If you want to abuse, first put off our beret then you can say what you want to say as an individual so that our name is not tainted,"he said.

Ssenyonyi said the party has not yet endorsed any person for the parliamentary race because their electoral body is still carrying out consultations on the best candidates for the various electoral areas.

"There are those who are saying that they have the flag. You don't give yourself the flag. The party gives the flag to you. I would like to let everybody know that the list shall be released for all those that have been given the flag,"he said.

At the same briefing, Kyagulanyi said they have received reports that there are people within the rank and file of NUP who are asking for money from aspirants for different political offices before they are nominated which is unacceptable.

"We have heard complaints and reports of extortion and I want to reassert that the National Unity Platform flag is not for sale. We condemn corruption, we detest corruption, we fight corruption in the struggle and in the same way we are going to fight corruption when we take power,"Kyagulanyi said.
