Members of Parliament shocked to learn that some officials at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development had duped the president and commissioned an incomplete project of Isimba hydro power project.
According to the Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga, her efforts to alert President Museveni to this scam were futile because the president was invited when she is bedridden.
The State Minister for Mineral Development Peter Lokeris was the first to present a ministerial statement concerning the claims that Shs 24 billion meant for the construction of a bridge connecting Kayunga and Kamuli as part of the Isimba hydro Power Dam project was embezzled.
According to the minister, police under its department of CID is currently investigating the claims that graft and embezzlement of funds characterized the construction of Isimba hydro power dam project.-
The minister noted that the bridge that is under construction will be commissioned on the 31st of December 2020 something that was bashed by a number of legislators who had visited the site.
The speaker directed the Parliamentary Committee on Infrastructure to investigate all the alleged mismanagement in the construction of the Isimba Hydro power project.
