The Allied Health Professional council (AHPC) has on Tuesday discovered that a huge percentage of microscopes in several clinics in Kampala are faulty, meaning that to many people are issued false results after testing their blood.
The council and police carried out an operation in different clinics, arresting eight people who failed to show their licenses of work.
Michael Kayizzi the inspector and quality Assurance Manager AHPC said It is a a very dangerous situation because many of the laboratories and clinics are operating without a license.
“I don’t want to use the word most of the many clinics and laboratories here are not regulated implying that they are giving results which are fake because some of them are using wrong tools like the microscopes,” he said.
Patrick Canwat, a laboratory supervisor at Kampala Central stressed that many of clinics are producing results which are not genuine .
“They are really false results. They just write results that are not true,” he said.
He urged all the people who would like to like to open clinics and laboratories to follow the right procedures.
“We don’t stop anyone who feel like opening a laboratory or the clinic but what we want is to employ qualified health worker who know what to do in the clinic,”he said.
