Lira Resident District Commissioner, Milton Odong has said he will not allow Kyadondo East Member of Parliament cum singer, Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine together with his People Power movement to disturb peace in his area.

Speaking during a function to launch the police brass band’s branch for Lango sub-region at Coronation Grounds in Lira Municipality, Odong said he cannot allow the peace enjoyed in the area to be disturbed by a group of “musicians.”

“The peace brought by NRM government to this country is irreversible.  I am chairman of security in this district and I will not accept any musician or dancer to come and cause problems here,” Odong said.

“Musicians who want to cause problems shall be sent to bars where people sing and drink provided they follow the law and rule of the game.”

In a veiled message that many at the function interpreted to be targeted towards Bobi Wine’s People Power movement, Odong peace ushered into the country by the ruling NRM is being enjoyed greatly in Lira, adding that he anticipates the status quo to remain throughout the 20210 general elections.

“I am very sure even in 2021 there is going to be no problem. Elections will be free and fair basing on good things this government has done to the people like the construction of the Lira main market," he said.

“The work of the RDC is to protect interests of government. I will not allow anyone to come and grab power from me and I become jobless. I don’t want to go to the streets. I have to pass the message and if their agents are here, they should know I am here ready to protect the interests of government in power and not the one in waiting.”

The Kyadondo East Member of Parliament has for the past two years clashed with security wherever he has been campaigning for other candidates.

In Arua, during the municipality by-election, chaos erupted after People Power supporters allegedly stoned President Museveni’s vehicle shattering its hind screen.

Over 30 people including legislators were later arrested and arraigned in court where they are still battling charges.
