The Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES) is set to host the second National Primary Teachers’ Conference.

The Conference will be hosted from 5th- 7th September, 2019 at St. Lawrence London College, Maya in Wakiso District.

According to Rosemary Sseninde, the minister of state for Primary Education, the conference aims at celebrating the contribution of teachers towards learning, community and national growth, as well as harnessing their partnership and innovation for development.

Sseninde said that the conference will attract the participation of 4,000 primary school teachers and 170 district and municipality officials and several important delegates that will grace this occasion.

"It’ll feature keynote addresses from important dignitaries, plenary sessions and over 20 parallel sessions, focused on exposing teachers to the teaching dynamics of the 21st century especially, the practice of teaching, and development of instructional materials," she said.

The conference will also be graced by President Museveni and Janet Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports.

Fifty exceptional primary school teachers will be recognised and awarded for their outstanding performance at this event.

The National Primary Teachers’ Conference (NPTC) was initiated based on primary teachers being crucial to the delivery of Uganda’s educational goals as prescribed in the Education and Sports Sector Strategic Plan under Vision 2040.
