Micho joins Zamalek hours after quitting at Orlando Pirates

Egyptian giants, Zamalek SC have announced the appointment of former Orlando Pirates manager Milutin Sredojević Micho as their new head coach.

Micho on Friday evening resigned his job at Orlando Pirates with immediate effect but less than 12 hours later, the Zamalek club president, Mortada Mansour announced the Serb as their new head coach.

The CAF Confederation Cup winner last month fired their head coach Khaled Galal after a dismal performance against rivals Al Ahly and on Thursday they appointed Aleksandar Stanojevic from Serbia as their head coach.

However, Micho’s announcement, only a day after Stanojevic’s appointment came as a surprise to every one according to the club president, the latter was announced as a tactic to hoodwink their “enemies.”

Micho was our first choice. Stanojevic will not take charge of Zamalek. It was a trick to find out who the club’s enemies are and I have revealed them in front of everyone,” Mansour told Egyptian media.

The Serbian journeyman will have Tarek Yehia, the team’s current interim manager as his assistant and is expected to arrive in Egypt on Sunday.

Milutin Sredjovic Micho, 49 joined Orlando Pirates in August 2017 after relinquishing his job as Uganda Cranes head coach the same year.

He had previously been in charge of the Rwanda national team, Al Hilal in Sudan, Young Africans(Tanzania), St.George(Ethiopia) and SC Villa.
