Judgment in murder case against Maj.Seiko’s bodyguard deferred again

The bodyguard to Maj.Juma Seiko will know his fate in two weeks’ time from now after the trial judge adjourned the judgment in the case in which he is accused of murder.

On Wednesday morning, Justice Flavia Anglin Ssenoga of the High Court in Kampala, for the second time adjourned the judgment in the case in which Alex Cherotich, a former UPDF soldier accused of shooting dead two men.

Ssenoga told lawyers from both sides that the judgment was not yet ready and adjourned the matter to August 29.

Cherotich is accused of four counts of murder and attempted murder.

Prosecution alleges that on December 3, 2016, at around 2.00am at Maj Juma Seiko’s residence on Nakasero Hill, in Kampala,  Cherotich who was then a guard at the residence shot dead two Boda Boda riders Lamex Ogwang and Fred Sembatya.

It is also alleged that on the same day, he also injured David Ssenkubuge and Solomon Mugabi.

The two Boda Boda riders had brought back home Mugabi who was being accompanied by two of his friends Katumba and Senkubuge.

Ssenkubuge was shot in the right thigh whereas Katumba survived unhurt.

In his defence, Cherotich denied ever being a guard and said he was just a cleaner at the home.

Court assessors recently asked court to convict the bodyguard because all evidence points to him.
