Thugs on the run after police recover gun used to rob residents

Police in Sironko is hunting for two men suspected to have stolen a gun from a police post and used it to terrorize the community.

The said gun, AK47 UP563613819-08402, was stolen from Buyobo police post in 2017 after thugs broke into the OC's house in his absence.

Police mounted a search that resulted in the recovery of the same on Saturday 27th from the home of one Madoi Rogers, a resident of Bushikori village in Bukulo subcounty following a tip off by the community.

The Elgon region Police spokes Person, Tukei John Robert confirmed the incident adding that the gun was found with an empty magazine.

The same gun is linked to a murder by shooting under CRDB 29/7/2019.

Odong William, a resident of Bukedea district, and Madoi Rogers, from Sironko, the main suspects behind the offense are on the run.

The police spokesperson has appealed to the public to volunteer information on the whereabouts of the two.

Police is looking for another gun that was snatched from a prisons guard at the prisons farm in Nkoma, IUIU, in Mbale municipality recently.

The PRO has also appealed to the public to collaborate with police in search of the same.
