Police mourns former IGP, John Kisembo

John Kisembo, the former Inspector General of Police is dead. Kisembo passed on yesterday at Platinum hospital in Kampala where is has been receiving medical treatment.

John Kisembo served as the IGP between 1999 and 2001 and he has been currently serving as the acting Director of United Nations African Institute for Prevention of Crime and Treatment of Offenders.

In a statement that issued by the police spokesperson Fred Enanga, he noted that the police are mourning the sudden and unexpected passing of the fallen police boss.

“We will never forget the excellent leadership he gave to the Uganda police during the many years he served,” part of the statement reads.

Enanga noted that IGP Martin Okoth Ochola has reached out to the family members of the deceased and extended his prayers and thoughts to them during this time of sadness.

Ochola thanked all the members of the UPDF, UNAFRI and the public who reached out to the family of the deceased and asked them to continue praying for the family.

He tasked the director welfare and production in Uganda Police to work with family to ensure that the deceased is honoured in a way befitting his life and position in the Uganda Police Force.
