We rather die poor than accept gay money- Ntagali

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Stanley Ntagali has said Africa will rather remain poor than accepting orders and subsequent funding from homosexuals.

Speaking during the martyrs day celebrations at Namugongo on Monday, Ntagali said they cannot accept to move in the same line with “liberal” churches that accept homosexuality.

“The liberals can stay with their money and we stay with our faith. We rather go to heaven poor than going to hell with a lot of money,”Ntagali said.

He said that owing to that, the Church of Uganda resolved that they will  not attend or send representatives to the Lambeth Conference of Bishops set for 2020 in Canterbury UK.

“The church of Uganda resolved that we are not going for Lambeth 2020 and because we can’t move with people we don’t agree with. It is good our brothers Kenya have joined us.”

He said that as part of the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) they had resolved to instead attend a fellowship in Kigali in 2020 where they will continue spreading the word of God than the one in Lambeth.

“We shall go to Kigali for a fellowship in 2020 to promote the kingdom of God.”

The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) is a series of conferences of conservative Anglican bishops and leaders, the first of which was held in Jerusalem in 2008 to address the growing controversy of the divisions in the Anglican Church.

In the inaugural conference in 2008, GAFCON said their movement had been started after a “false gospel” had started being promoted withint the Anglican Communion which promoted variety of sexual preferences and immoral behavior as a universal human right, a thing they said was not correct.

Speaking to believers at Namugongo on Monday, Ntagali applauded Kenya for upholding laws against homosexuality.

“The High Court of Kenya also defended the laws and we want to thank them for standing firm. We thank God for that great move.”

The Church of Uganda in 2016 boycotted a top Anglican Church summit in the Zambian capital Lusaka over failure by the top church leadership in Canterbury to disassociate itself from homosexuality that is threatening the moral fabric of the Church.

In a letter to the bishops, clergy and other lay leaders in the Church, Archbishop Stanley Ntagali indicated it had also been resolved by the Provincial Assembly that the Church province of Uganda would not in any of such conferences of the Anglican Consultative Council (ACC) until “Godly order is restored.”

The ACC is a periodical meeting aimed at facilitating the co-operative work of the churches of the Anglican Communion.

Last year, the House of Bishops resolved not to attend the 2020 conference in Lambeth not until the Episcopal Church of the United States and the Anglican Church of Canada are not invited.

According to the Global Anglican Future Conference(GAFCON) the Episcopal Church in the United States and the Anglican Church of Canada are an evil and disgrace to Anglican identity.

Representatives from Nigeria, Kenya and Uganda, provinces of the communion with large populations of Anglicans decided they will not attend the Lambeth conference.
