The call was made during a meeting between judicial officers led by Justice Geoffrey Kiryabwire, the head of the judiciary's small claims procedure system, and people of Kayunga.

So far 55 out of 200 courts in Uganda have embraced this procedure and the judiciary is looking forward to extending it to other courts.

Kiryabwire said under the small claim procedure, individuals will be allowed to handle cases without necessarily relying on judicial officers.

The locals were concerned about the long time it takes it resolve cases and welcomed the proposal.

Through Kiryabwire, they asked the judiciary to beef up the Chief Magistrates Court in Kayunga and appoint a substantive magistrate.

The locals want the chief magistrate instated at Kayunga since all necessities are available.
