MP Kasozi named new COSASE deputy after Kasibante lobbying fails

Parliament has finally approved Makindye East legislator Ibrahim Kasozi as the new Vice Chairperson of the parliamentary committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities and State Enterprises replacing MP Moses Kasibante who earlier been nominated.

However, the confirmation of MP Ibrahim Kasozi as COSASE Vice Chairperson is opposed by some opposition legislators led by MP Joseph Ssewungu who argued FDC failing to fight for Kasibante is a sign of hypocrisy in the party.

Lubaga North legislator Moses Kasibante the first to be nominated to be the Vice Chairperson of COSASE but only to be blocked by the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga and appointing him to the appointments committee.

After Kasibante was rejected, FDC Secretary general Nathan Nandala Mafabi wrote to the speaker replacing Kasibante with Makindye East Legislator Ibrahim Kasozi.

On Thursday Kasozi was officially approved by Parliament to deputize Mubarak Munyagwa on COSASE.

After his confirmation Kasozi pledged to work with his boss Mubarak Munyagwa to ensure proper accountability of public resources.

Kasozi is however is not moved by the huge backlog before the committee

But to some, FDC failing to fight for Kasibante and decide to replace him with MP Ibrahim Kasozi is a sign of hypocrisy from the main opposition political party

Ssewungu also disclosed to media on how he had convinced MP Moses Kasibante to apologize to the speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
