How man pretending to be a fumigator robbed Najjera residents clean

For a number of months, he pretended to be a fumigator and took advantage of this cover to rob unsuspecting customers clean of their property.

As they say a thief has 99 days, on Tuesday, Shemmy Buwembo’s days elapsed and he was arrested red handed by police.

“One Robinah Mirembe, housemaid at Bulabira cell, Kira Municipality in Wakiso district reported that she had received a staff manager for Perfect Fumigation Company Limited who gave her a forged UMEME form and asked her to load electricity on her Yaka metre,”Owoyesigyire said.

“As she moved out to load the units, the ‘fumigator’ took the opportunity to enter into the house robbing it clean of all belongings before loading them into a waiting Toyota Corona vehicle.”

As luck would have it, the maid had recognized the number plates of the robber’s vehicle and reported to police.

When police detectives mounted a hunt, the suspect was nabbed red-handed with stolen items in his vehicle.

According to police, Shemmy Buwembo was arrested with an ID of a fumigation company, laptops, TV sets and a number of other home appliances.

“Our investigations found out that Buwembo is a conman who targets maids in the areas of Najeera by pretending to be a fumigator and robs them clean during the day when everyone else is away,”Owoyesgyire said.

“Inquiries in this matter continue with a view of identifying other culprits and progress will be communicated.”
