On Thursday, January 24th, 2019 draws for South America’s most prestigious football tournament known as Copa America were announced in Brazil for the tournament that will kick off on 14th of June 2019.
Brazil will host the tournament .
The draw that was held at cavernous Rio concert hall, attracted a number of famous and prominent historical football faces led by former Brasilian captain Cafu along with former Inter Milan and Argentinian defender Javier Zanetti, Uruguayan Diego Lugano and of course arguably the greatest female footballer of all time, Marta.
The tournament involves outsiders competing on invitation since the 90s and will be no different this year as Qatar and Japan were given opportunity to trade show in South America.
All eyes will focus on hosts Brazil who are the hosts and last won this tournament in 2007 when they thumped Argentina 3-0 in the finals, however, will have to keep their eyes on all teams but most importantly they won't take their eyes off Argentina who have won 14 of these tournaments, Uruguay the most successful team in this tournament and Chile who has won the last 2 editions defeating Argentina back to back in the same manner.
