Top security agencies and the media fraternity yesterday gathered at headquarters of ministry of Defence at Mbuya to celebrate the achievements of 2018.
Among others, major emphasis was laid on how to improve the relationship between the security agencies and the media in the coming year
Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda assured the media fraternity of government’s full support in its aim to improve the relationship with security agencies.
Kin Kariisa, the chief executive officer of Next Media highlighted the brutality meted upon the media by security personnel as one of the major challenges faced this year.
A number of journalists have been roughed up by security personnel in the course of their work.
They included James Akena, a photo journalist, who was beaten up during protests in the city centre.
The dinner was the first of a kind and saw top security officials and CEOS of different media houses dine under roof .
