KCCA FC’s Mike Mutebi takes swipe at Saddam Juma for missing penalty

To players, Mike Mutebi is known for a being a no nonsense man who does not mince his words and tolerates no school boy mistakes.

Saturday evening was not different as the KCCA FC gaffer took a swipe at one of his senior players Saddam Juma for missing the team’s penalty against Vipers SC at the St.Marys Stadium in the StarTimes Uganda Premier League.

It was in the 67th minute when Allan Kyambadde was released by Allan Okello only for the former to be brought down by Halid Lwaliwa prompting the centre referee to award a penalty.

Saddam Juma stepped forward to take the spot kick, only to miss the penalty that would have given them a lead against the hosts.

Responding to questions during the post- match press conference, Mutebi said he was angry with the midfielder for missing the penalty.

“We have a penalty taker but a certain Saddam Juma who was playing poorly decides to take it. He is not a bad penalty taker but it was disappointing,”Mutebi said.

The KCCA FC tactician said the team captain Timothy Awany is the designated spot kick specialist adding he was surprised to see Juma take the penalty and at the end missed it.

“’When you get a penalty in modern football, you must score it.”

Mutebi said the midfielder was not good on the day as he failed on his job of creating chances that would have resulted into goals.

Saturday’s draw with Vipers ensured KCCA are 3rd on 12 points, two below the Kitende based team who are leading the StarTimes Uganda Premier League log after 6 games.
