VIDEO: Gov’t to borrow $251m for extending safe water to rural areas

The Government is to get a loan of $251 Millions from the International Development Association of the World Bank Group to finance the Integrated Water Management and Development Projects.

While addressing Journalists at the media center Tuesday, Frank Tumwebaze the Minister of Information, Communications and Technology said Cabinet that sat Monday approved this with the aim of providing safe water to project areas of; Gulu municipality, Adjuman Town council, Pakele Ciforo and Dzaipi, Busia Town Council, Namungalwe- Kaliro, Kyegegwa-Mpara- Ruyonza, Namasale, Mbale Municipality, Butalejja- Busolwe and Budaka – Kadama – Tirinyi – Kibuku.

Tumwebaze said this will help to support the provision of water and sanitation service to refugee host communities in the districts of Moyo, Arua, Lamo, Yumbe Koboko, Isingiro and Hoima.

Tumwebaze also revealed that cabinet gave green light to the commissioning of the new Nile bridge in Jinja.

“The bridge will be commissioned on the October 17, 2018.”
