Misaga returns SC Villa property as club chooses interim committee to cool waters

The storm at Villa Park, which is 'home' to Uganda Premier League giants, SC Villa has been quieted after several weeks of bedlam. This follows the appointment of an interim committee to steer the club to safety.

The interim committee will be headed by William Nkemba, a former player at the club with Norbert kazibwe his secretary, Haruna Jjagwe  for treasurer, Moses Matovu  the technical chairman and James Serebe  as club CEO.

The interim committee at least takes over immediately, the leadership vacuum that had been caused by a disagreement between Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) and SC Villa regarding elections for the club chairman.

Following the disagreements, FUFA later in a meeting with SC Villa big wigs at Sheraton Hotel agreed to hold elections six months later. However, in the meantime, an interim committee be appointed immediately.

The meeting also agreed that no member on the interim committee would be eligible to stand when the race is finally opened.

Misaga would later summon fans and declare he is quitting the club as chairman, but his announcement was interrupted by demands from the agitated fans to return club’s property among which included; Busses, match-day and training kits.

The incessant demands from fans to Misaga would later turn into security threats prompting him to dash to FUFA and hand over all property.

According to Humphrey Mandu, the deputy CEO of FUFA, Misaga was indeed receiving threats over the said property. He said that the property will now be availed to the interim committee of the club.

Misaga was elected chairman four years ago after an interim committee was instituted following the defenestration of Fred Muwema During his tenure in office, the formerly strong league contenders registered no title with the closest being a third place finish.
