Frank Mwesigwa the former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander has dismissed reports of his arrest saying he is enjoying his time as head of the Tourism Police.

Speaking to Nile Post on phone on Saturday morning,  Mwesigwa said he is in the village (which he didn’t disclose), preparing to attend a local function.

"I am free. I am here in my village. So it is not true that I am under arrest otherwise how would I talk to you?"

Mwesigwa had earlier tweeted:  “I am neither in hiding nor under any arrest as rumoured on social media platforms and page 3 of today’s New vision.”

Saturday Vision had reported that Mwesigwa and other army officers had been arrested.

Since the arrest of the former police chief Kale Kayihura and some of his close associates, social media has been awash with reports indicating that Mwesigwa, who was also viewed as Kayihura's blue-eyed boy, had been detained. For the time being at least, he is still free.
