Youth activists accuse government institutions of not doing enough to fight unemployment

A group of youth activists have lashed out at various government institutions and agencies over failure to create an enabling environment to  employ Ugandans, especially the youth.

Addressing journalists, youth activists under their umbrella body, Youth Crusaders said a number of things have in the past happened and have dragged the economy backwards.

“Recently, Crane Bank was liquidated in a dubious way by selfish people in Bank of Uganda disguising under the Financial Institutions Act 2013.Two other banks had before that fallen victim of unclear circumstances in a very short span less than six months,” said Fatinah Nakazibwe, the group coordinator.

They accused government agencies and institutions of frustrating some of the investors to the country and who could have created employment.

“We always sen President Museveni meet delegations of investors day by day but we have not done enough to retain them here.”

The youths said there is currently a big turnover of investors to Kenya than Uganda, a thing they attributed to unfavourable conditions brought about by some government institutions.

They however urge government to realign its institutions and agencies to work towards conducive environments for investment as a way of creating employment in the country.
