Car Catches Fire, Burns All Occupants to Death

Two people were burnt to death when a car they were traveling in caught fire along Kyenkokola, Itendero, Kabwohe municipality, Sheema District, last night.

The deceased; Mubashir Ahmed (28) a Pakistani national and owner of Medvin Pharmacy in Mbarara district and his employee only identified as Gerard were returning to Mbarara from Bushenyi when their car, a Toyota Platz Registration number UAX 808 L, over turned and caught fire.

According to Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson, SP Martial Tumusiime, the accident was a result of over speeding.

“They were trying to dodge a boda boda at high speed, but lost control of the car, veered off the road, overturned and the car instantly caught fire. The accident happened at about 8:00pm,” Tumusiime told Nile Post.

“Police responded quickly and sent a fire brigade, but the occupants had already been burnt to death. Their bodies have been taken to Kabwohe mortuary,” he added.

An eye witness recounts that the car went off the road and hit a tree before catching fire and burning its occupants to ashes
