Court declines to dismiss Kaweesi murder case

Nakawa Grade One magistrate Noah Sajjabbi has again declined to dismiss charges against the 15 suspects who are accused of murdering former police spokesperson, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi.

Lawyers representing the suspects led by Anthony Wameli had urged court to dismiss the case the prosecution had failed to conclude investigations.

The lawyers also pointed out that the state attorneys were not in court meaning they were not interested in the case.

But in his ruling, Sajjabi informed court that they couldn’t proceed with this matter in the absence of the state.

The lawyers  then asked court to refer the matter to the High court for further interpretation.

Sajjabi however adjourned the hearing to April 17  when court shall give its verdict on whether or not to dismiss the case.

This is not the first time for the lawyers in this case to ask for a dismissal. In December 2017, they made a similar plea but it was granted.
