Youth should desist from criticising government; focus on work – Bryan White

City socialite Brian Kirumira, also known as Bryan White has urged youths to desist from participating in protests and focus on work.

Addressing journalists on Tuesday, Kirumira said that youths are easily manipulated by politicians for their own selfish benefit but urged them to desist from being used.

“Even USA that many of you want have many jobless people but they don’t go on speaking about that. They focus on speaking good about their country,” Brian White said.

“Whoever comes, you just follow. Even if Trump comes to be the leader of Uganda, he will not come knocking on your door giving you money. We, the youths are the country’s next generation but we should not accept to be used by anyone.”

Bryan White came to the limelight last year as a socialite giving out money to his supporters and would later venture into charity.

However, in December he was arrested together with Thomas Okoth, a police officer attached to Crime Intelligence for shooting Victor Bitwire, a city businessman.

He was later charged with attempted murder before being released on bail.

Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Brian White said that many people especially youths spend most of their time making posts on social media about lives of other people on top of criticising government for failure to provide them with jobs, a thing he asked them to desist from.

“It is true the jobs are scarce but money will not come to your pockets .You will only get out of poverty by waking up to look for jobs.”

Enter politics
The city socialite however dismissed rumour making rounds that he is laying ground to join politics by giving out money to youths.

Kirumira said he has no intention of joining politics even in the near future, adding that his sole aim is redeeming youths out of poverty.

“I cannot be part of that circus by politicians. Take an example of our leaders who use us the youths for their own benefit and when they get to the top, they forget us,”Kirumira said.

“Let me share the little I have with you other than joining politics. No one should hoodwink you that I am laying ground for joining politics. Don’t be mistaken.”

He also allayed rumour that he is working for certain politicians in the country, saying that his main aim is youths.

Bryan White revealed he would be making a countrywide tour in a bid to reach out to youths and do charity work to help the needy.
