Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde, the minister for Security, has warned all unstructured security organisations not to take the law in their hands.

Featuring on NBS TV's Morning Breeze, Tumukunde said: "We are going to attach more serious charges to some of these people. We cannot afford to allow lawlessness and this is a warning to them."

He was responding to a question by Simon Njala Kaggwa about the activities of some quasi-security groups especially Boda Boda 2010.

Tumukunde said the group will be handled.

Boda Boda 2010, which is headed by Abdallah Kitatta, the NRM chairman for Rubaga division, has wrecked havoc in parts of the city.

It is alleged that the group has the support of Gen Kale Kayihura, the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

Speaking about the heated debate currently taking place in Parliament over the age-limit bill, Tumukunde also warned MPs not to manhandle security personnel at parliament saying it could lead to dire consequences.

"Matters of security should be left to security people because MPs are not trained to handle security. These security people need to be respected," Tumukunde said.

The former ISO chief called upon NRM members to turn up in large numbers and vote to lift the presidential age-limit.
