Judiciary condemns assault of Masindi chief magistrate
The judiciary has condemned the recent act in which a convict, Fred Ford Kyogonza physically assaulted the Masindi Chief Magistrate, Catherine Agwero being sentenced to six months in jail.
They say that the acts by Kyogonza are uncivilised, offensive and disrespectful.

“Judicial officers are merely arbiters who carefully hear both parties in a matter before making a verdict in accordance with the law. The law gives a dissatisfied parties a right to appeal any judicial decision up to the supreme court,” reads a statement from Judiciary.
On 13 December 2017, Kyogonza a medical officer punched Agwero’s head after the court ruled that Kyogonza be imprisoned over failure to pay debt of 4.8 million to creditor.
In 2013, James Magadu filed a civil case against Kyogonza and court ordered him to pay suit to the latter which he had since failed to settle.
On Thursday, Angwero read out the sentence convicting Kyogonza of default to pay debt. Kyogonza sprinted from his dock, jumped onto her and started throwing jabs on the head and in face, also disfiguring her mouth in the process. It took intervention from Prison warders and the court orderly to separate the two.
Kyogonza has been slapped with charges of assault causing actual body harm and contempt of court for disobeying lawful orders.
He was also remanded to Masindi prison until 9th January 2018 .
