Bundesliga Preview: Leipzig Return From Disappointing Week, Stuttgart Look To Maintain Unbeaten Run.

The Germany Bundesliga returns with game week fifteen and there are more than just points to lose. Stuttgart, Bayer Leverkusen have unbeaten runs to protect while Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig will be looking to bounce back from horrific feats in the Champions League.

This week, we take a look at some of the top games in the German Bundesliga.

Friday

VfB Stuttgart v Bayer Leverkusen, Mercedes-Benz Arena – 10:30PM

Tonight, VfB Stuttgart take on Bayer Leverkusen in the encounter of the unbeaten sides. Stuttgart have not lost at the Mercedes Benz Arena this season, winning 5 and drawing 4.

Bayer Leverkusen on the other side are on their longest unbeaten run in two and a half years, with nine games, including four on the road. It remains to be seen which side loses their run first tonight.

All I can predict a close and competitive game happening at 10:30PM.

Saturday

Eintracht Frankfurt v Bayern Munich, Commerzbank-Arena – 5:30PM

Bundesliga Defending Champions and leaders, Bayern Munich recovered well from their match-day 13 slump with back to back wins over Hannover 96 and PSG in midweek.

The Bavarians travel to Eintracht Frankfurt with fresher legs following Jupp Heynckes’s decision to rest most of his starters during mid-week action against PSG.

Jerome Boateng is expected to return while Rafinha could be drafted into the back-line should Joshua Kimmich be rested. Jarvi Martinez and Thomas Muller the other players who were rested are also expected to return to the starting lineup.

However, Juan Bernat and Kingsley Comman remain subject to late fitness test but Manuel Neuer, Arjen Robben and Thiago Alcantara remain out.

For the home side, Niko Kovac will need to be effective with his decision for Makoto Hasebe or Marc Standerain in the holding role. Timothy Chandler and Omar Mascarell returned to training after long-term injuries, but may have to settle for spots on the bench at best here.

Expecting a game of different fronts as Bayern push for more points for top spot

RB Leipzig v Mainz 05, Red Bull Arena Leipzig – 5:30PM

RB Leipzig will be returning from a rather disappointing week, crashing out of the Champions League at home after a 4-0 defeat at Hoffenheim last weekend.

Leipzig, have won five of their last six Bundesliga home games this season but Mainz have failed to win any of their last twelve away. Die Bullen have a good chance to recover but should be wary of what always beats them;- starting with intensity and breaking down towards the end of the ninety minutes.

Center-half, Dayot Upameco, could return from a muscle injury but Ibrahima Konaté or Stefan Ilsanker are readily available to fill the void should he fail to recover in time. Emil Forsberg should also return from a muscle strain in time. Konrad Laimer could get a chance for a start, that is if one of Diego Demme or Naby Keita gets rested.

Meanwhile, Mainz have lost their last two Bundesliga matches and have scored only three goals, with just two points in six matches on the road so far.

Perfect chance for Leipzig to return from a bad week.

Borussia Dortmund v Werder Bremen, Westfalenstadion - 5:30PM

At the Signal Iduna Park, Borussia Dortmund, the other German side to have suffered a disappointing Champions League exit and poor run in the Bundesliga will be up against Werder Bremen.

Irked by injuries to seven of his first team players, Peter Bosz, luckily has options for solutions tomorrow. Both Marc Bartra and Neven Subotic are available as Shinji Kagawa gets set to replace Gonzalo Castro who suffered a serious ankle injury last weekend.

Maximilian Philipp is also out with a knee injury, but top scorer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will return up front having after serving a one-match ban after being shown a second yellow against Schalke 04.

According to whoscored.com, Borussia Dortmund have won 9 of their last 10 home matches against Werder Bremen in all competitions, but are without a win in 11 of their last matches in the Champions League and Bundesliga.

Can Dortmund finally start winning?

Bremen have lost both of their away games and this should be the third following their impressive performance against Real Madrid in Spain.
