Ruhama County MP, William Zinkuratire dies

Ruhama County Member of Parliament, William Zinkuratire Beijukye, is dead.

Chris Obore, Parliament's Director of Communication and Public Affairs, says Beijukye, a first-term legislator, had been admitted at Nsambya Hospital in Kampala where he passed on Friday night.

Beijukye was elected Ruhama county MP in February 2016 under the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket. He replaced the First Lady Janet Museveni who held the seat in the 8th and 9th parliaments.

The deceased last year travelled to India where he was treated for Hepatitis B virus.

He hailed from Kakururu in Rweikiniro Sub County in Ntungamo district.

Obore says burial details will be communicated after discussions with family members.

Beijukye becomes the fourth legislator to die this year.

In July, Iganga District woman MP Grace Hailat Kaudha Magumba died after suffering pregnancy-related complications.

Moroto woman MP Annie Logiel died in February after undergoing brain surgery in Sweden. Just a month later, Toroma County MP Cyrus Amodoi Imalingat was among 10 people who perished in motor accident along the Kampala-Jinja highway.
