Lack of integration lagging Africa behind- Ugandan Ambassador

While participating in the 5th (SACPCMP) South African Council for the Project & Construction Management Meeting held annually at the Birch wood Hotel Johannesburg, Ugandan High Commissioner to South Africa, H.E Barbra Nekesa Ounda highlighted that one of the Africa’s bottlenecks lagging Africa’s development behind, is lack of integration which has for long, led to loss of income, high costs of doing business in other countries.

She also added that operational costs due to the fragmented information and communication networks is yet another challenge and this has seen Africa drag her feet compared to other continents on the globe.

While on the Invitation of the Minister of Public Works of the Republic of South Africa,  H.E Barbara Nekesa Oundo also  made a presentation on other challenges such as lack of private investments and consorted consolidated effort in the private sector to pursue cross border projects,  Inadequate feasibility studies undertaken which are not in conformity with developing partners and donors, and complex historical dimensions of different African Countries which further complicates doing business in Africa.

Concluding her presentation to experts , policy makers and other dignitaries High Commissioner Nekesa expressed optimism in the vast opportunities available for Investment.

Highlighting the East African Community Region as a robust business hub specifically Uganda for undertaking profitable ventures in key sector areas of Energy, Oil & Gas exploration,  Transportation in various forms of Railway,  Water, Air, Tourism,  Agriculture to mention but a few not forgetting cross boarder projects that will culminate in the overall Development of not only Uganda as a country but Africa as a continent.
