Business forum in Denmark starts: 15 companies register to come to Uganda

Copenhagen, Denmark:

The African business summit and trade seminar has started in  Copenhagen, Denmark with 15 investor companies registered to make a  trip to Uganda in November.

The forum, hosted by African Embassies accredited to Denmark in  collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign affairs, Confederation of  Danish Industries, Danish Agriculture and Food council and the Danish  ship owners’ association started on Tuesday, at H.C Andersens Blvd in  Copenhagen.

Prior to the forum, President of Maersk shipping company hosted a  Ugandan delegation led by the minister of Finance, Mr Matia Kasaijja,  at the company headquarters Copenhagen.

The delegation comprised of; the state minister for Energy, Simon  Dujang, Executive Directors for Uganda Investment Authority (UIA) and  Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) and members of the  parliamentary committee on trade, industry and investments.

The African business forum will focus on areas like; Agribusiness,  renewable energy, information technology and infrastructure.

Speaking after the first session of the forum, Uganda’s ambassador to  Denmark, who also doubles as the organizer, Mr Kibedi Zaake, said, the  forum will provide a platform for match making Nordic and African  businesses which will culminate into long lasting investment  partnerships.

“The overreaching objective of the forum, is to attract investments,  trade and tourism promotion, attraction of appropriate science and  technology from the Denmark to Africa,” Mr Kibedi said.

“The underlying objectives include; information dissemination about  business opportunities, challenges and attempts by respective  governments; platform for match making Nordic and African businesses  and a feedback channel through which African technocrats and  bureaucrats get first hand information from Nordic companies operating  in Africa about challenges they experience which information helps  respective governments improve on business environment,” he added.

Meanwhile at the sidelines of the forum, Mr Kasaijja invited ready  Danish companies to invest in Uganda, where a total of 15 countries  were registered to make a trip to Uganda in November over the same.

The forum that ends on September 8, will also feature a round table  business meeting on September 7 in Stockholm, Sweden.
