UCE exams start, UNEB asks parents to attend candidate briefing

As the examination season sets in, the Uganda National Examinations Board (Uneb) has cautioned teachers, students and parents against examination malpractice.

Addressing journalists yesterday, Dan Odongo, the executive secretary of the examination body said the vice had persisted but they are working with the police to avert it.

He called upon religious leaders to speak out against the vice.

He said some parents pay money to unscrupulous people to give their children assistance hence facilitating the vice.

Odongo said they have information that there are fake papers already on market.

He cautioned teachers and parents not to attempt to cheat exams for the students.

Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams start today (October 11) with briefing of candidates.

They will run from October 14 to November 15.

Primary Leaving Examinations shall be held on November 4th and 5th.

The police said they are prepared to offer security and all the necessary assistance especially in the hard to reach areas.

Preparations for the exams were underway at the different schools we visited.

At Kololo Secondary School in Kampala more than 600 students are expected to sit for exams.

Some students said they are prepared for the exams come Monday.
