FRESHERS GUIDE; Here is how you can fit in

Education

It has been a long week as a number of Public Universities opened their gates for the admitted first-year students commonly addressed as 'Freshers' to commence with their various academic programs.

Although it has been barely a week inside the university gates, a number of the Freshmen are already finding problems with fitting in their new environment and some who have tried to act like they have been around for quite long, have ended up foxing themselves, leaving us with no option look at them in total dismay.

Jonah Kirabo explores a few tips that will help you fit in.

1. Be true to yourself

I am sure a good number of you have received your university booklets or rules and regulations by now. When you read that book or those rules, do you see it anywhere that as a student, you should look a certain way, walk a certain way or behave a certain way? No. You owe none of us nothing and it is only you who knows your background.

Live your reality and within your means, anyone who wants to associate with you will adopt and follow your rhythm.

2. Manage your hairdo

I know that it has been a long vacation and certainly, you have been watching a lot of movies and videos and in one way or the other, you could be tempted to try out some strands from your favorite actors, musicians, socialites among others.

Girls, for example, would like to try out any style Sheila Gashumba or Nina Roz does. My advice is that, mind your choice while at it otherwise, you might come out as the broke or suffering version of Sheila Gashumba. Keep it simple and you will fit much easier.

3. Don't move in 'gangs' if you can avoid it

Not asking that you should walk alone but get one or two peers and move with those.

Don't lose it while trying to look cool.
