Report into Muhangi’s death released

Doctors at Mulago have finished compiling the postmortem report to the death of businessman and former rally driver Charles Muhangi who died on Thursday.

The 65-year-old former rally ace was found dead in his bed on Thursday morning at his home in Munyonyo raising concerns from family members and friends.

His body was later driven to Mulago hospital where a postmortem was done to examine the exact cause of his death.

When contacted, CID spokesperson Vincent Ssekate confirmed the report had been released but could not divulge more details.

“I can confirm it was completed and our doctor and family lawyers were there while it was being done. We have not yet officially received it because was completed late and all doctors had not signed on it,”Ssekate told the Nile Post when contacted.

However, the Daily Monitor quoted Dr.Moses Byaruhanga, the police director in charge of health services and chief pathologist for police saying Muhangi had died of natural death.

“It was a natural death, we have not found anything peculiar. But we have been told that he was diabetic,” Dr. Byaruhanga told the Daily Monitor.

Friends that this website talked to, on Thursday at his home said Muhangi was in good health the entire day on Wednesday and that they were shocked to hear news of his death.

“I was with him from 8pm up to mid night at Café Javas along Bombo road. He took chocolate and juice and some of it was packed for him to take home,” said Charles Karangwa, a friend to the deceased.

Karangwa said by mid night when they left the restaurant along Bombo road, the businessman was in good shape and that they had arranged to meet on Thursday only to be told he had died in his sleep.

“We were supposed to meet at 10:00am today but I was shocked to hear he was dead.”

Many of employees and friends said they had spent the biggest part of Wednesday morning and afternoon with Muhangi and that there was no sign of him being sick.
