I will sack officials frustrating investors- Museveni

President Museveni has reiterated he will not hesitate to sack government officials frustrating investors and in the end delay development projects that could benefit Ugandans.

Museveni made the statements while commissioning GoodWill Ceramics Tile factory, at Kapeka Liao Shen industrial park, Luwero District.

“Our people are frustrating these investors. They take too long to process their licenses. Our officials sit in their chairs and swing around, waiting for the investors to plead with them. I am warning such officials,” Museveni said.

“Whoever does not support initiatives that lead to the development of this country and our people, I will fire that person,” Museveni added.

Museveni said government will work on the issues of expensive work permits for foreign investors as well as the long process involved.

“The issue of work permits, we shall solve it. Why would you sell a work permit so expensively to someone who is coming to Uganda to do something nice?” Museveni wondered.

Chinese Ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuaiang, said more Chinese investors will be coming to Uganda because the two countries have a blossoming relationship.

GoodWill Ceramics Managing Director Frank Yang, revealed that they are producing over 30 Square Kilometres of tiles for local consumption and export.

He however decried the high tariffs on water and electricity, which Museveni said will be solved.

Museveni in August wrote to the Finance Minister Matia Kasaijja, directing that any official in Uganda Revenue Authority found guilty of frustrating investors should be fired immediately.
