Vipers Open Title Defense With Win Over Ndejje University
Vipers SC launched its StarTimes Uganda Premier League title defense with a late 1-0 win over debutants Ndejje University.
Substitute, Davis Kasirye scored the only goal of the game in stoppage time after some brilliant piece of work from former KCCA FC forward Tito Okello who delivered a low cross for the tap-in.
It was a heard earned win for new coach Javier Martinez Espinoza who opened his competitive account on a low following that Super Cup loss to last season’s Uganda Cup winners.
This marks a new era for the Kitende based side, who had not won their opening game since the 2016/17 season (drawing all).
Basing on today’s evidence, the hosts struggled in the final-third but there are signs they will certainly improve as Espinoza gradually imprints his style and gets more new players settling in.
Elsewhere, it was a sad opening day for the promoted sides as the other two sides also suffered defeats in their respective games. Paidha Black Angels fell 2-0 to URA at the Mandela National Stadium, same score as Nyamityobora’s falter away at Onduparaka.
Here’s a summary of Today’s Results.
