Zaake Family Resists CID Order he be moved from Lubaga to Mulago hospital

The family of Mityana legislator Francis Butebi Zaake is battling his transfer from Lubaga Hospital to Mulago National referral Hospital as directed by Grace Akullo, the Director Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

Zaake family friend and Masaka Woman MP Babirye Kabanda claims that the order is an attempt to frustrate efforts by the family to fly the ailing legislator to India for specialized care.

Kabanda claims that the letter follows closely on the heels of suspicious events happening around the hospitalised MP. Kabanda says that last week unknown persons attempted to forcefully move Zaake from Lubaga hospital.

Following the letter addressed to the Executive Director Lubaga Hospital Dr Andrew Sekitoleko, Kabanda says several medics have declined to examine or treat Zaake. The medics claim that Zaake's case is too political for them to treat him.

Kabanda says the family has decided to compile supporting documents to make a case to the medical board that Zaake deserves to be flown abroad for better treatment.

Zaake was dropped at the gate of Lubaga hospital with a multitude of injures to his hands, head and complaining of back pain. Zaake claimed that he had been arrested and tortured by Special Forces Command officers after the Arua Municipality by-election chaos.

President Yoweri Museveni has since accused Zaake and Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi of masterminding the stoning of a vehicle in the presidential convoy in Arua. President Museveni said that Zaake had escaped from police custody and was wanted.
