The family of Kyadondo East Member of Parliament, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu  alias Bobi Wine, have given government an ultimatum to produce their relative and an explanation for his detention within 48 hours.

In a press conference addressed by among his family members; Wife Barbara Itungo Kyagulanyi, Eddie Yawe, Steven Kyagulanyi and others, the family insists that their member should be produced alive or dead in the given time.

“The honorable member of parliament, representative of Kyadondo East, is missing, the latest we have as a family and his wife is a New Vision headline reading; ‘Bobi Wine held in military barracks’,” his wife remarked.

“My husband is not and has never been in the military, he has no military experience, does not even know how to use a gun and he can’t even differentiate the different guns out there. I wonder why is he held in a barracks, what has he done to deserve this?” Ms Kyagulanyi wondered.

“We are demanding Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu alive within 48 hours. I am deferring from our mothers and uncles that he should be produced alive or dead, but we want him alive,” Kyagulanyi’s brother Eddie Yawe said.

According to the legislator’s lawyer Andrew Karamagi, they have filed for a production warrant for Bobi Wine and his MP colleagues.

Bobi Wine was arrested alongside several legislators following Monday chaos in Arua district that led to the death of one person.

In a statement, Bobi Wine’s team claimed that the shooting was a deliberate attempt to assassinate the Kyadondo East legislator.

“Later, we shall come up with a statement on what exactly happened. For now we know that the shooting was a deliberate attempt on Bobi Wine's life. We were marching peacefully back to our hotel from the rally when security forces opened fire, and one bullet went straight to the seat in the Tundra vehicle where Bobi normally sits.”
