According to Kabatsi, Uganda has 100 operational milk companies with a total installed capacity of 2.7 million litres per day. Products currently processed include; milk powder, UHT milk, pasteurized milk, yogurt, butter, ice cream, cheese, ghee & casein.

Kabatsi said that the dairy month is aimed at promoting milk consumption and in Uganda, the Dairy Development Authority (DDA), an agency under Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry & Fisheries will lead in organizing and coordinating the celebrations.

June Dairy Month is an annual event celebrated worldwide to pay tribute to contributions of dairy farmers, dairy importers and exporters and their families who work hard every day to provide fresh, whole some milk & milk products for everyone to enjoy. This year’s celebrations will take place between 27-29th June, 2018 in Soroti District.
