Loud music saves girl from kidnap, death

A 19-year-old victim from Kakira, Jinja District, is alive today thanks to loud music played on her kidnapper's woofers.

The victim had initially received a phone call from a one Mayanja Muhammad also known as Alideki, who had enticed her with a juicy job as a shop attendant.

Mayanja then sent his would be victim Shs15,000 as transport an agreed location in Nakifuma.

Upon arriving in Nakifuma, Mayanja sent two other young boys to lead the victim to his house where she met him. An hour later, she had been taken hostage, hands and legs tied with sisal rope, and her captor threatened to kill her.

Armed with a knife, her captor raped her, and later asked that she calls her family to send a ransom of Shs10m before her release.

Mayanja continued to rape the girl with loud music on so that her cries wouldn't attract anyone. It is the loud music that instead attracted residents who came to check on what Mayanja was testing only to find a girl bundled up.

The residents then alerted police which swung in action, arresting the suspect and setting the girl free.

Police also recovered the exhibits (knife and ropes) he had. He is currently detained at Nagalama Police Station vide CRB 068/2018 on charges of kidnap and rape.
