On Monday, the state prosecutor Happiness Ainebyona asked the Makindye Chief Magistrates court to adjourn the matter to a further date because the Director of Public Prosecutions was contemplating dropping charges against the accused.
In a withdrawal form dated April 9, the DPP has officially written to court informing them that he has lost interest in the case.
“This is to inform court that the Director of Public Prosecutions has decided to discontinue proceedings against Kirumira Bryan and Okoth Thomas who had been charged with attempted murder,” says in part, the withdrawal form signed by Mike Chibita copied to the Resident State Attorney for Makindye and the Kampala South regional CID.
The Makindye Chief Magistrate Elias Kakooza accepted the request by the DPP before closing the case file.
Known for his showy life and dishing out money to various groups of people, especially those in need, Bryan White was in December caught on the wrong side of the law when he shot Bitwire whom he suspected of being a thief .
He would later be sent to the coolers at Luzira where he spent his Christmas season before he was later released on bail.
