Kampala Twin Bombings Suspect Granted Bail

The international crimes division of the High Court has released on bail, Sheikh Dr. Ismail Kalule a suspect in the Kampala July 11 2010 bombing case.

Dr.Kalule was re-arrested in 2016 after the same court in Kampala acquitted him of the charges.

He would be later detained at Nalufenya for over a year.

Justice Mukiibi Moses ruled that there was no evidence that Dr.Kalule would abscond if released on bail.

"There is no evidence that if released on bail the accused will interfere with witness and the entire investigations," Justice Mukiibi ruled.

He added that one year since Kalule's committal by the Jinja Chief Magistrate's court, the file has never been received by the International Crimes Division of the High Court for trial to commence.

The judge asked Kalule to pay a non-cash bond of shs20 million and also deposit his passport with the court.

He is also expected to report to the court's registrar twice a month.
