VIDEO: Gen Tumwine sworn in

Newly Appointed Security Minister General Elly Tumwine has taken oath replacing Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde who was dropped in recent changes.

The ceremony attended by among others, the Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda, Janet Museveni, Minister of Internal Affairs Jeje Odong, Minister of Public Service Muruli Mukasa and Govt Chief Whip Ruth Nankabirwa was presided over by President Museveni.

Speaking at the ceremony, Museveni tasked the security leadership to keep re-orienting their staff and also work as a team.

"I urge security personnel and the public service at large to work as a team because it is the surest way to success. When you work as a team you benefit from the knowledge of others" Museveni said.

Museveni congratulated Tumwine, who he said was his student in 1967 and later joined him as a freedom fighter. He said the security sector needs to keep up with advancements in technology adding that there is nothing that the Government cannot acquire if it is important. "All technology gaps must be filled" Museveni emphasized.
