Police officer allegedly rapes suspect in cells for offering ‘small’ bribe
Police in Mbale is holding one of their own for allegedly raping a suspect in cells.
Police Constable Joel Magombe, 37, attached to Sukari Police Booth, Namakwekwe, Mbale Municiplity in Mbale District was arrested for allegedly raping Namakaamu Hajira, 35 who had been arrested and detained over a debt with her SACCO. The Incident happened on Wednesday night.

It is alleged that while the suspect was in cells, the officer asked her to part with some money in order to release her. The suspect on hearing the offer, got Shs10,000 and handed it to the officer.
Alas, the officer declared that the Shs10,000 was to little to grant her safe passage out of the cells, he then demanded a top up through sex which the suspect allegedly turned down.
The officer then landed on the suspect and raped her severely. A doctor’s examination report indicates that the suspect was raped acutely.
