Police breaks into Kirumira's house, arrests him

Featured

Muhammad Kirumira, the controversial senior police officer has been arrested. Kirumira, the Buyende district police commander, was arrested today at his Bulenga residence after hours of stand off with the police.

The maverick police officer who is facing charges ranging from torture to extortion before the police tribunal, had locked himself after officers of the police flying squad surrounded his residence early in the morning.

After more than three hours of playing ping pong, police officers broke the front door of his house before whisking him away to an unknown police.

Police fired live bullets to disperse people who had gathered at Kirumira's house. Yesterday Kirumira "resigned" from the force through a statement on his Facebook page claiming he could not be part of a force "dominated by criminals."

The police swiftly rejected the resignation and told him to shut up.
