Cranes seek to get Chan's Shs 720 million

 Uganda Cranes will be all out to try and finish third in Group B with a win against Cote dÍvoire on Monday to pocket Shs 720 million (US$200,000) in prize money.

Coach Sébastien Desabre's team bowed out of the competition on Wednesday after losing their second game 1-0 to Namibia in a match played in Marrakech, Morocco.

 The Cranes had suffered a 3-1 defeat in the opening game to Zambia.

Uganda's next opponents also lost 1-0 to Namibia and 2-0 to in-form Chipolopolo of Zambia.

 Desabre has asked his team to improve and go all out and pick maximum points on Monday.

"We have been playing well in the first half , but fail to take our chances. Football is about goals and we need to score," said Desabre.

On Friday the Cranes under went light training with third choice goalkeeper Saidi Keni missing out because of a fever. Striker Muhammad Shaban who missed the game against Namibia with injury also trained.

In-case Uganda finish fourth in the group, they will pocket Shs 630 million (US$175,000).

Meanwhile, on Friday the Confederation of African Football (CAF) cleared Sudan of any wrong doing after they had been accused of using a player not eligible to play in the tournament.

On 18 January 2018, the Guinea Football Federation (FEGUIFOOT) lodged a protest against the Sudan Football Association (SFA) citing an administrative error over the registration of player Elsamani Elsawi Elsheikh for the finals of the tournament in Morocco.
