Winnie Byanyima gets lashing on Social Media over tweet discouraging women from kneeling

The Executive Director of Oxfam International, Ms Winnie Byanyima has become 2018’s first social media attack victim.

This is after the she tweeted saying that the practice of women kneeling while greeting is a ‘humiliating ritual that should be stopped.”

Byanyima was then attacked by a litany of social media users, calling upon the wife of FDC strong man Dr Kizza Besigye, to desist from infiltrating the African culture that people hold so dear.

Byanyima posted a picture of her neighbor, a one Leonarda who had bent knees to greet her.

“Neighbour Leonarda kneels down to greet me.I tell her not to kneel, but she insists that a young woman must show respect by kneeling 2 greet older women & men. I don't agree, boys don't kneel. How do we stop this humiliating ritual?” she posted.
