We can’t mourn over a draw says Moses Basena

Uganda Cranes opened her CECAFA title defence with a barren draw against Burundi in the only fixture on match day two on Monday.

Both sides struggled to find openings in a dull affair at Bukhungu Stadium after countless efforts but no goal was registered in the first and second half of the game.

Moses Basena, the interim Cranes coach, said his side had a good game from the start but luck was not on their side.

He said: “We need to come out of the football game because we cant mourn over drawing 0-0. We dominated the game from start to finish and it has shown us that we are not scoring well. I am complaining about the result but not my players. We tried many formations but Burundi defended resiliently and I credit them for that.”

Uganda are the defending champions of CECAFA championships and they hope to redeem themselves on Friday, November 8 when they face South Sudan at Kakamega stadium.
