Big Day in Masindi as Balaam Barugahara Takes Oath

There was jubilation in Masindi, Bunyoro, as Balaam Barugahara returned home after he was appointed the state minister for labour in charge of youth. A celebratory procession met him, with cheers and well-wishers lining the streets. The excitement wasn't just for Balaam, but also for the Bunyoro region, seeing one of their own,  rise to a prominent position.

Patriotism and Youth Take Center Stage

In his address, Balaam highlighted the importance of patriotism and fighting corruption, values he believes the President recognizes. He emphasized his focus on empowering young people, urging them to invest in their futures rather than lavish spending.

Addressing Local Concerns

The Prime Minister, Robinah Nabanja, graced the event and acknowledged the long-standing issues in Masindi. She assured the audience that the government is committed to addressing them. Finance Minister Matia Kasaija announced the allocation of one billion shillings to begin renovations on the Masindi hospital, with construction expected to start by July or August.

University, Market, Roads, and More

Prime Minister Nabanja addressed other concerns raised by local leaders. She confirmed plans for a Bunyoro University campus, starting with utilizing existing land at Bulera Primary Teachers College. Additionally, she mentioned addressing market development, road improvements, street lighting, and other needs. Funding for both Bunyoro University and Busoga University was allocated in the 2024-2025 budget.

A Call to Action

Nabanja emphasized the importance of Balaam actively engaging with the people to understand their needs and ensure their voices are heard by the government.

Local Leaders Express Optimism

Masindi district leaders, led by Chairman Dr. Cosmas Byaruhanga, expressed their appreciation for Balaam's appointment. They see him as a hardworking individual with strong connections, well-positioned to advocate for Bunyoro's interests.
