Abobusobozi faith leader adds relief, hope to Kiteezi residents

In the early afternoon, as the sun began to shine, the leader of the religious group, known to his followers as "Omukama Ruhanga Ow'obushobozi," made a grand entrance.

Stepping out of his vehicle, he was greeted by kneeling followers as mats were spread out from a yellow tent.

The leader and his followers had come to extend support to the displaced residents of Kiteezi, who were forced to evacuate due to a garbage landslide earlier this month.

Third Deputy Prime Minister Lukia Nakadama Isanga noted that the government is still searching for suitable land to resettle those affected.

Nakadama explained that ongoing challenges, particularly in verifying the exact number of people eligible for compensation, have caused delays in providing financial assistance to former tenants.

The religious leader and his followers brought essential supplies, including flour, bananas, rice, cassava, and beans, to the people of Kiteezi.

He expressed sorrow over the tragedy but was encouraged by the collective efforts to provide aid.

Since the disaster, many individuals, including university students, have stepped forward to support those affected.
