Hima Cement has announced its active involvement in the investigation of a counterfeit cement operation uncovered in Luweero District on April 5, 2025.
The operation, which led to the arrest of several suspects, is part of a growing crackdown on fake cement products that have infiltrated the Ugandan market, posing significant risks to public safety and industry integrity.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the raid in Luweero resulted in the discovery of counterfeit cement being distributed to local vendors and construction sites.
Hima Cement has since expressed its full support for the police's swift and thorough action in addressing this illegal activity.

This crackdown on counterfeit cement comes as part of a larger effort by the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) to safeguard the quality of construction materials in the country.
UNBS recently launched a nationwide campaign to combat the proliferation of fake cement and other substandard construction materials, which have caused serious concerns among builders and consumers alike.
The campaign, backed by both Hima Cement and other industry leaders, aims to raise awareness about the dangers of counterfeit products and provide a clear path for reporting and removing such products from the market.
